FILMING EACH OTHER
In the ReSpace project, researchers from Rwanda, Kosovo and the UK collaborated on capturing sites of significance, and in this context, the process of recording, capturing and translating these experiences to each other became extremely relevant. The process of filming and documenting sites of significance served not just the documentation of site, but also the purpose of filming each other’s reaction to and perception of the spaces. Students in Rwanda filmed each other across the three sites – Gisimba Memorial Centre, the Wetlands and La Colombiere School. Equally, in Kosovo researchers and students captured each other’s exploration of space and place by filming each other in the Hertica home and Dodona Theatre. Questions of perspective, of authorship and place were reflected on throughout.
